a. Learning Objectives: The learning objectives for this lab include:
Understanding how to install Windows 10 using a VMware virtual machine.
Learning the process of installing Windows 10 using a VMware virtual machine.
b. Learning Material: Windows 10 is an OS version launched by Microsoft in 2015 and remains the most widely used operating system globally, despite the release of Windows 11. Most new laptops come with this OS installed. However, many laptops still use DOS, which has a text-based black-and-white display. Windows 10 can be installed on these DOS laptops as well.
d. Installation Procedure: Before starting the installation of the Windows 10 ISO file, you need to download the Windows 10 ISO file from the Microsoft website. Once you have it, you can begin the installation using VMware:
1. First, open the virtual machine and click "Create a New Virtual Machine.
2. Choose the type as "Typical" and click "Next."
3. Select "Installer disc image file (ISO)" and click "Browse."
4. Locate the Windows 10 ISO file to add it, then click "Open."
5. Click "Next."
6. Enter the name of the virtual machine and click "Next."
7. Click "Next" on the following screen.
8. Click "Customize Hardware."
9. Then click on the memory section, then select 4GB memory, if you have clicked close.
10. hen click processors, then for the numbers of processors is 1, then the numbers of cores per processor is 2, if you have clicked close.
11. In this section, click on the power on section to activate the check, if you have clicked finish.
12. Then click power on, then wait a few seconds.
13. Then left-click until the cursor disappears then click enter.
14. Change the Time and currency format by selecting Indonesian (Indonesia). Then click Next.
15. Then click install now.
16. Then the Activate Windows window appears. Click I don't have a product key if you don't have a serial number or product key. If you have a product key or serial number that has been officially purchased from Microsoft, it will be able to be filled in in the column.
16. Select the Windows 10 Pro operating system that uses architecture 64, if you have clicked next.
17. In this section, Click next.
18. Then select upgrade install windows and keep files, settings, and applications.
19. Then click next..
20. Wait for the file copying process to complete. This process takes about 15 minutes according to the CPU speed, RAM capacity and read-write speed of the hard disk you have. The process that takes the longest is number 2, namely Getting files ready for installation. Wait for it to finish.
21. Then enter the region, namely Indonesia, if you have clicked yes.
(This function is to set the desired language).
22. In the Keyboard layout view. Leave it US because this keyboard layout is the default layout in Indonesia is US, if you have clicked Yes.
23. Then click skip.
24. Click set up for personal use, then click next.
25. Fill in the username for the installed Windows 10. Then click Next.
26. Then enter the password, then click next.
27. Then enter create security questions.
28. Then uncheck everything.
29. Once unchecked, then click accept.
30. Then in this section you can fill in according to what you want, and you can also skip it.
31. Then in this section, click yes.
32. Then here it will be taken to the Windows 10 desktop that has just been installed.
c. How to partition a disk:
1. The first step to partitioning a disk is to go into file explorer, then in the This PC section, right-click. (This function is to store data and programs separately from the local disk C, so that it can help protect data from damage or data loss due to viruses or system damage that occurs on local disk C. In addition, additional local disks can also help store files that are used less often so that they do not interfere with space on local disk C.
2. After that, there are several options, in this section select disk management.
3. Then on the disk c section, right-click.
4. Then select shrink volume.
5. Then in this section, is the section to set how much new disk space you want to add, if so, click shrink..
6. Then right-click on the newly added disk, if you have already clicked new simple volume.
7. After a display like this appears, click next.
8. Then click next.
9. After that, select assign the following drive letter, to name the disk E, if so, click next.
10. Then in the following section, click next.
11. If it already appears on a display like this, click finish.
12. And the result is that the disk that has just been added, already appears in the This PC display.
